Who We Are

Nashville Composer Collective was borne in late the summer of 2012 in homes, classrooms, and coffee shops, with eventually as many as 27 members meeting to encourage composition of new works and provide a venue for their performances. Our members include studio players, career artists, music faculty, and many other supporters in various roles. They’re involved throughout the US and abroad.

NCC’s inaugural concert was on October 27, 2013. Over twenty-six concerts since then have been given, showcasing twenty-four composers employing orchestras of various sizes, from chamber groups to 29 players. Over 80 world premiers have been performed.

HOW WE GIVE

  • We host quarterly social events for members, giving composers and musicians a warm and welcoming environment to connect, catch up, and learn from one another.

  • We provide members with an audio recording of their premiered performances, which we also archive.

  • We provide opportunities for members to conduct their own or others’ pieces, gaining experience and video footage of their skills at the podium.

  • Our executive committee provides constructive feedback for each submission we receive for a concert. We also gather bi-weekly for member-led score study, providing a space to engage analytically with some of the most beloved works in the classical repertoire.
